Travel Tips for Successful Trips
After many successful trips to all corners of the world, I've learned a few things to help make my travels better. There are a lot of very simple travel choices which can improve your traveling experience, and here are just a few.
Pack everything you need for the trip in your airline carryon luggage. That way you don't have to risk losing your luggage or have to wait an extra half hour to retrieve your bags.
If you're carrying your own airline luggage, try to stay near airports or train stations, rather than downtown (as long as the station is not very far from downtown). This is less important if you're staying in one place for several nights.
If you're traveling for more than a week and it's not a sitting on the beach type of vacation, plan a day or two in the middle to relax and take things easy. You'll appreciate the second half of the trip much more because of it.
If you have connecting flights, try to leave enough time between them to allow for the first flight being delayed. If you are short on time for your flight connection, tell the airline, tell the stewardess, tell anyone who will listen and might be willing to help. Sometimes no one will help, but certain airlines will shuttle you through the airport, rush you through security, or at least contact the flight to let them know you're coming.
Bring only half of the clothes you need to help you travel light and bring less airline luggage. The hand wash the clothes in the middle of your travels. This can save a lot of space for only a little effort.
Carry copies of your passports and visas in your luggage, separate from the originals. That way, if you lose your passport or it's stolen in your travels, it will be much easier to get a new one.
